Hotels and homestays in Dapoli
There is no chain hotel here, and that is the appeal. You are choosing between a beach resort, a family homestay and a private villa.
The three kinds of stay
Beach resorts
Concentrated at Karde and Murud, with air conditioning, a restaurant and staff used to city guests. The most predictable option.
Konkani homestays
A family house with a few rooms and a kitchen that cooks whatever came off the boat that morning. Simple rooms, exceptional food.
Private villas
Whole-house rentals with a caretaker and a cook arranged in advance. Best for a group, and the closest thing to owning here.
Booking and season
Should you stay in Dapoli town or near the beach?
Near the beach if the trip is about the sea, in town if you are visiting in April or May and want cooler nights on the plateau. Karde and Murud have the most choice.
Do you need to book in advance?
For Diwali, Christmas week and long weekends, book several weeks ahead. On an ordinary weekend you can usually find something a few days out.
What is the food like?
The Konkani coastal thali is the reason people come back: rice, solkadhi, a coconut curry and whatever fish came in that morning. Alphonso in season is worth eating every day.
